Boebert's husband, Jayson, made $1 million as Big Oil's go-to drilling consultant over the past two years.   Boebert didn't think it was necessary to mention this on her financial disclosure forms: She listed her husband's income source as “N/A,” a potentially serious ethics violation. DOJ green-lights “significant” subpoenas for Trump cronies

 

Donald Trump was desperate to stop the Department of Justice from allowing his former employees to testify at the House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection.   Trump's “executive privilege” excuse didn't work.   Even Adam Kinzinger, the committee's top Republican, knows nobody is above the investigation. “I would expect to see a significant amount of subpoenas,” Kinzinger said. Kinzinger is Trump's least favorite Republican, and we can see why:   “I want to know what the president was doing every moment that day.”   So do we. No matter what Donald Trump thinks, executive privilege does not apply.   The future of American democracy depends on a thorough investigation. If the committee cannot execute on its mandate and hold the insurrection's leaders accountable, there's no telling what violent assaults on the Capitol will come next. Merrick Garland won’t defend Mo Brooks’ January 6 actions

 

We have great news:   POLITICO: Merrick Garland's Department of Justice declines to defend Rep. Mo Brooks against Jan. 6 incitement lawsuit   On January 6, 2021, Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks -- a radical MAGA Republican and major Trump ally -- told a group of far-right Trump rally attendees to “start taking down names and kicking ass.” Shortly afterwards, they turned violent and stormed the US Capitol.   Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell promptly sued Brooks for his role in inciting the Capitol insurrection -- and Brooks immediately turned to the Department of Justice to defend him. But Brooks is being hit with reality: Merrick Garland doesn't defend insurrectionists.   It seems Brooks may eventually be punished in the courts, but we've got a bigger problem to deal with first -- this Trump-endorsed insurrectionist is still running for the Senate.   We cannot give Mo Brooks any more power. At his campaign launch, he proudly stood next to Stephen Miller -- the architect of Trump's immigration ban and child separation policy. He also continues to push baseless election fraud claims in the House. A Judge has BLOCKED a lawsuit to overturn Warnock’s victory

 

Attacks against Sen. Raphael Warnock's win began immediately after his acceptance. But finally, a county judge this week dismissed a lawsuit attempting to overturn Warnock and Ossoff's electoral victories.   For every attack, Warnock has reaffirmed his commitment to securing our democracy. Rand Paul thinks he’s a Civil Rights defender now

 

Earlier this month, Senator Rand Paul signed on to Twitter to claim that “critical race theory spits on the Civil Rights Movement.” Rand Paul, of all people, is trying to claim that his anti-CRT agenda is actually in defense of Civil Rights.   After all, Critical Race Theory is Republicans' latest scare tactic. Their thinking goes like this: If you can't win by passing good legislation, maybe you can win by resorting to racist fear-mongering.   Last year after George Floyd's murder -- when all 99 of his Senate colleagues banded together to support an anti-lynching bill -- Rand Paul was the only holdout.   And now, he thinks he's defending the Civil Rights Movement. The GOP censorship machine

 

Republicans have a new obsession: Critical Race Theory. In a blow to the concept of free speech, Florida has become the latest state to ban CRT in classrooms.   Republicans can't agree on what CRT actually is, but the Florida bill defines it as a theory that “racism is embedded in American society and its legal systems in order to uphold the supremacy of white persons.”   The GOP claims CRT is the real threat. After all, why would they want to crack down on right-wing extremists? White supremacists are Donald Trump's and Ron DeSantis' most loyal supporters. ProPublica: Billionaires have paid a true tax rate of 3.4%, some even less

 

Republicans have been trying to discredit Elizabeth Warren's plan to tax extreme wealth since she first introduced it -- but polling shows that they're failing. 68% of Americans now support taxing the ultra-wealthy, and it's not hard to see why.   Billionaires have increased their wealth by more than $1 trillion since the pandemic began -- and a recent ProPublica report shows they'll pay little to no taxes on it.   In fact, according to the report, if you paid $5 in taxes in 2011, you paid more than Jeff Bezos, one of the richest men alive.   Republicans spent the past four years giving HUGE tax breaks and bailouts to CEOs and big corporations while everyday Americans were forced to pick up the tab, especially during the pandemic.   It's time these billionaires who've been allowed to exploit the system for far too long pay back what they owe us -- and Warren is making it happen. Who’s going to tell Kevin McCarthy?

 

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy ordered his caucus to vote against a January 6 committee into the Capitol insurrection. On that same day, he demanded the House Intelligence Committee investigate Fox News host Tucker Carlson's baseless claims that the NSA was spying on him.   McCarthy has stood, unapologetically, by AZ Rep. Paul Gosar as he openly fundraised with neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers -- yet he threatened to strip any Republicans who accept an appointment to the January 6 committee of their committee assignments.   MSNBC's Charlie Sykes said it best: “In McCarthy's GOP, the attack on democracy is memory-holed, while a Fox News conspiracy theory is hyped. Bigots are tolerated, while truth-tellers are purged and bullied.”   Who's going to tell McCarthy that the American people are paying attention and his actions have consequences? Only we can.   Right now, McCarthy is only 5 seats away from taking control of the chamber, and according to FiveThirtyEight, he's on track to get his wish.   We need to turn the tide, but Democratic giving has plummeted now that Biden is in the White House. On January 6, 139 House Republicans voted to overturn a free and fair election. Trump’s back to inciting violence just six months after the insurrection

 

Donald Trump is out of office. But he's back on the rally circuit and encouraging supporters to overthrow democracy. Just weeks ago, he told a crowd in Ohio that he'd “never stop fighting for the true results of this election." And in Florida, he suggested that the Capitol Police officer who shot an insurrectionist on January 6 should be “strung up and hung."   We've already seen what Trump's radicalizing rhetoric can wreak. His supporters are still celebrating every word he says.   We can't ignore all the violent, anti-democracy language Trump keeps spouting. Marjorie Taylor Greene and other Trump sycophants still have their platforms and their audiences, and they haven't changed their tune one bit since the insurrection.   The rally audiences applauding Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene don't care who the real president is. Meanwhile, Trump is building them up with delusions of guerilla warfare and vigilante justice. At one of Trump's recent rallies, a supporter announced, "We're going to be in a civil war, because the militia will be taking over."   And every day, more and more Republicans are changing their minds, telling pollsters that the January 6 attack was justified. The radical right is growing, and it's more and more becoming the mainstream GOP.   If we pretend January 6 never happened, it'll happen again -- and next time, it might cost even more lives and damage.   Trump doesn't have the bully pulpit anymore. He doesn't even have a Twitter. What he does have is a crew of white nationalist radicals representing him in the halls of power -- people like Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, and Lauren Boebert.   That's why we at Progressive Majority are focused on getting Trump's allies out of office and putting progressives in. The white supremacist running for his sixth term in Congress

 

While millions of Americans were preparing to celebrate Independence Day, Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar was off joining forces with notorious white supremacist and Holocaust-denier Nick Fuentes, saying he won't “let the left dictate our strategy, alliances and efforts.”   We're not surprised by Gosar's “alliances” .
