Wild animals like tigers and elephants continue to be forced to participate in circuses and travelling acts across the US, performing unnatural, dangerous tricks and spending the remainder of their time confined in cages. Not only do these wild animals suffer physically, but they also experience detrimental psychological harm from their inability to participate in behaviors natural to their species. Wild animals are meant to live in the wild, not provide entertainment for humans. The Traveling Exotic Animal and Public Safety Protection Act, sponsored by Reps Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-03) and David Schweikert (AZ-06) in the House of Representatives and Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) in the Senate, would amend the Animal Welfare Act by banning the use of wild animals in traveling circuses and acts. You can advocate for these tigers, elephants, and other wild animals by urging your federal legislators to co-sponsor the Traveling Exotic Animal and Public Safety Protection Act. |
