Corruption in plain sight...

Florida, man.

Today’s Action: Let’s talk about vaccinations!

As the Delta variant surges throughout the country, we desperately need a new way to message the vaccination. We are far, far away from the necessary numbers to reach herd immunity and protect our most vulnerable. Major events like the music festivals Rolling Loud in Miami and Lollapalooza in Chicago still convened the past two weeks with hundreds of thousands of attendees, with performers and concert-goers alike testing positive as they return to their home states.

There is still so much misinformation about the vaccine. While many reading this might already be vaccinated, it’s likely that they also have friends and family who are more apprehensive. So, how can we continue to do our part to end this pandemic?

Without judgement and using trusted methods listed below, talk to your friends and family about the vaccine! You could play a pivotal role in their path to vaccination.

Be empathetic! The CDC recommends open-ended questions to better understand individual perspectives and concerns. When encouraging them to be humble, exhibit humility yourself — they aren’t expert, but neither are most of us, which is why we need to listen to those who are. Ask them about their trusted sources of information, encourage them to talk to their personal doctor, and don’t judge

Helping a loved one or neighbor find their reason to get vaccinated isn’t a "gotcha" moment — it’s a small act of service, and a way to keep doing your part to end the global pandemic.

COVID-19 is a public health crisis that requires all hands on deck, and that’s even more evident by the emergence of the Delta variant in response to low vaccination rates. Our nation requires dedicated teamwork in achieving vaccination rates that keep hospitalizations low and our communities safe.

Do your part and ask your unvaccinated loved ones if they’ve talked to their personal doctors about the COVID-19 vaccine!

PS — Please don't forget to sign the petition to stop Republicans’ attacks on trans kids in Texas, and be sure to follow OD Action on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
