Donald Trump was desperate to stop the Department of Justice from allowing his former employees to testify at the House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection. Trump's “executive privilege” excuse didn't work. Even Adam Kinzinger, the committee's top Republican, knows nobody is above the investigation. “I would expect to see a significant amount of subpoenas,” Kinzinger said. Kinzinger is Trump's least favorite Republican, and we can see why: “I want to know what the president was doing every moment that day.” So do we. No matter what Donald Trump thinks, executive privilege does not apply. The future of American democracy depends on a thorough investigation. If the committee cannot execute on its mandate and hold the insurrection's leaders accountable, there's no telling what violent assaults on the Capitol will come next. Progressives have to stick together if we want to learn the truth about January 6. Thank you for speaking up, and for standing with us. - Progressive Majority P.S. The Jan. 6 committee wouldn't exist if it weren't for Nancy Pelosi's bold House leadership. The Republicans aren't happy. Now, Democrats are projected to lose significant ground in the upcoming midterm elections. We're already seriously outgunned by the Republican electioneering machine, but there's still time to flip the odds. If we come out strong behind Nancy Pelosi, our brave Democrat investigators, and true progressives in the House and Senate, we can hold the power-hungry insurgent Republicans accountable for their actions.
Progressive Majority PAC is leading the fight against Trump's GOP and their dangerous and divisive agenda by supporting elected progressives, helping elect even more progressive Democrats to Congress, and protecting the gains we made in the past election.
