Housing, health care, climate, clean water, gerrymandering, opioids, criminal justice, early childhood education, hourly workers, veterans, LGBTQ, racial justice

Being a U.S. Senator is ultimately about making policy decisions, so I want to run a campaign that puts a real policy discussion at the center.

So we started this campaign by laying out where I’ve stood on the major issues over my last seven years in the state Senate - issues like health carecriminal justiceeducationracial justice, and fixing our democracy.

Then we held town halls in all 100 counties.

And we used what we learned at those town halls to write detailed plans about specific areas. Here are the detailed plans we’ve written so far:

Here’s our process for writing those plans:

First, we consult the people of North Carolina. We’ve held more than 130 public, open town halls across the state and heard from thousands of North Carolinians about the issues that are impacting their families and communities. These conversations have genuinely informed our policy plans.

Then, I write the first draft. I take what I learned from our town halls, what I know from my experience in the North Carolina legislature, and what I’ve researched, to write a comprehensive plan that I believe is the boldest version of what we can realistically achieve. Sometimes they’re pretty long – but we’ve got a lot of work to do.

Then, we consult the experts. I know that professionals who have spent their lives and livelihoods dedicated to these issues know more than I do – and listening to experts is a good thing. It’s something elected officials should do more of. So before we roll anything out, we make sure to ask for input from those folks.

Then, we consult our staff. We’ve got a diverse team of really smart people, so our team gets a chance to review a policy before we roll it out publicly.

Finally, we share it with you. And hey – we know not everyone is going to read every plan. But if you’re really passionate about, say, water quality in the Cape Fear River, you’ll know exactly where we stand on the issue that matters most to you.

There’s no ask in this email. I just wanted to give you an inside look at our process and how we’ve built our North Carolina agenda. I’m genuinely proud of what we’re building here, and I hope we’re making you proud too.

There’s a lot at stake in this election. A clear plan for how to move forward makes it a little bit easier.

As always – thanks for your support.

– Jeff

Saying thank you

Marisa and I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you.

Running for office is hard and it takes a true team effort. We’re so grateful for the outpouring of support we’ve received across the state.

Thousands of you have shown up to town halls, sometimes in homemade Jeff Jackson gear. You’ve shared your personal stories and told us why you’re committed to putting in the work to flip this seat blue. And you’ve encouraged us that running a transparent, energetic campaign really is the right thing to do.

On the hard days, knowing that you have our back is what keeps us going. Please know, we genuinely couldn’t do this without you.

So however you’ve shown up – chipping in a few dollars, volunteering to text and phone bank, talking to your friends and family about the upcoming election, or taking a moment to send an encouraging note – we couldn’t be more grateful to have you on our team.

We hope you have a relaxing weekend and enjoy spending time with the people you love.

Thanks for everything,

– Jeff and Marisa Jackson

Mar-a-Lago

Last night, Donald Trump hosted a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago for one of Jeff’s Republican opponents, Ted Budd.

This race could decide the balance of the U.S. Senate — which is why Trump’s pulling out all the stops to get Ted Budd over the finish line.

Budd’s been a strong supporter of Trump’s agenda. He pushed the lie that the 2020 election was stolen and voted to throw out millions of legally cast ballots on January 6th.

With the help of Trump fundraisers and conservative Super PACs like Club for Growth (which has committed $5 million to tip the scales in Budd’s favor), he’s got a real shot at winning this election. That’s right, this guy could be North Carolina’s next U.S. Senator…

Ted Budd and Donald Trump.

We can’t let that happen. That’s why we’re asking: Can you pitch in $5 (or more!) today to help us build the resources to take on Budd, Trump, and his fundraising machine?

We’re proud to be running a true grassroots campaign, with support from every single county in North Carolina. We take that seriously, and it means a lot to us to know that our energetic, transparent effort is resonating with folks across the state.

But it also means that we’re not relying on corporate PACs or mega-donors with deep pockets to fund our work. In fact, a huge portion of our fundraising comes from messages just like this one.

That’s why your support means so much, and why we’re counting on folks like you to help us flip North Carolina’s Senate seat blue.

Thanks for anything you can chip in to make it happen.

— Team Jeff

JEFF JACKSON, NORTH CAROLINA

We just finished holding 100 town halls — one in every county in North Carolina. We took questions from anyone, anywhere. And here’s the thing, my answers at our 100th town hall were different from my answers at our first town hall — because honestly, I just learned a ton along the way.

The experiences and stories from folks across the state are genuinely impacting the policy priorities of a U.S. Senate campaign. That’s how it should be. And that approach means we won’t have the standard national agenda you often see in political campaigns. Instead, we’ll have a North Carolina Agenda.

But before we roll out more of our North Carolina Agenda this month, I want to make sure we hear from you too.

On the road, I learned that subsurface infrastructure, like water and sewer, is a huge component of addressing affordable housing. You can’t build a 60 unit apartment on septic or well water. Makes total sense, but I hadn’t thought about subsurface infrastructure as an affordable housing issue until I talked to a bunch of folks in rural NC. North Carolina is a big state. (Example: You can drive three hours west of Asheville and still be in NC.) And to get a sense of what life looks like for people all across the state, you have to actually go there.

Because I serve in the state Senate, I knew the broadband situation in North Carolina wasn’t great. So when I visited a county, I asked folks to give me a thumbs up or a thumbs down on broadband in their area. And when 80 out of 100 counties give you a big thumbs down, you realize how bad it really is.

I also learned just how much consensus there is among us. We held open town halls and sure, there were a few hecklers, but for the most part, people just wanted to talk about what was going on in their community, and how national and state politics would impact their lives.

We’re going to keep learning. And your input is a critical part of that. If you’ve got a couple minutes, would you please fill out our survey? I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.

More soon.

– Jeff
