To hell with Robert E. Lee.
One of the country's most egregious monuments to treason, racism, genocide, and oppression is coming down today and it's long past due.
Now, whenever this subject comes up, I immediately start seeing comments about how Robert E. Lee didn't want statues honoring himself or the Confederacy. How these statues weren't raised by the Confederacy itself, but by white supremacists during the Civil Rights era.
I don't care.
I don't care what Robert E. Lee wanted and I detest attempts to rehabilitate or soften his treason and I particularly despise the ideology these symbols represent.
To hell with Robert E. Lee and to hell with the Confederacy.
