FBI agents seized computers from wealthy financier Jeffrey Epstein’s home in the Virgin Islands during a raid of the private island owned by the late accused sex trafficker, according to drone footage.

The footage reviewed by NBC News shows that at least two computer desktops and an Apple computer were packaged and marked to be taken away from Little St. James island as part of the FBI probe.

On Monday, around the time the raid of that 70-acre island began, Attorney General William Barr vowed in a speech that the investigation into Epstein’s alleged conduct would continue.

“Any co-conspirators should not rest easy,” Barr said. “The victims deserve justice and they will get it.”

The raid came two days after Epstein, 66, died as a result of a suspected suicide. He was found unresponsive Saturday morning in his cell in a federal jail in Manhattan, where he was being held without bond on child sex trafficking charges.

Authorities are now investigating that death, which came two weeks after Epstein, a former friend of Presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, was found semiconscious in his cell in a possible suicide bid.

Epstein was taken off of suicide watch at the Metropolitan Correctional Center less than a week after that incident.

The Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office and the FBI also are continuing to investigate people who are suspected of having conspired to provide him with dozens of young women to be sexually abused from 2002 through 2005 at his residences on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and in Palm Beach, Florida.

No one other than Epstein had been criminally charged in his case at the time of his death.

However, the indictment against him says he conspired with other people in trafficking underage girls to be sexually victimized during visits to his home, which he claimed were for “massages.”

The indictment said that “in order to maintain and increase his supply of victims, Epstein also paid certain of his victims to recruit additional girls to be similarly abused.”

That charging document also said that “in creating and maintaining this network of minor victims in multiple states to sexually abuse and exploit,” Epstein “worked and conspired with others, including employees and associates who facilitated his conduct.”

Monday’s raid on Epstein’s island included officials from the New York Police Department, who are members of the FBI New York Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force.

“The NYPD is a partner in the task force with the FBI that led to the arrest of Jeffrey Epstein last month,” an NYPD spokeswoman told CNBC in an email.

“The case remains an active and ongoing investigation, and the NYPD continues to work alongside the FBI in investigating leads — including at Epstein’s estate in the Virgin Islands. The NYPD declines further comment on an ongoing investigation,” the spokeswoman said.

Barr said Monday that there were “serious irregularities” at the MCC jail where Epstein died.

“We will get to the bottom of what happened,” Barr vowed at a police event in New Orleans, “and there will be accountability.”

Both the FBI and the inspector general’s office of the Justice Department are probing the circumstances of Epstein’s death.

The Bureau of Prisons is an agency of the Justice Department, which Barr heads.

The New York Times, citing prison and law enforcement officials, reported Monday that one of the two people who were supposed to be guarding Epstein in the MCC was “not a full-fledged correctional officer, and neither guard had checked on Mr. Epstein for several hours before he was discovered.”

FOCUS: Jeffrey Epstein Believed He Could Make a Deal With Prosecutors by Revealing the Secrets of Donald Trump or Bill Clinton, a New Book Says
Alia Shoaib, Business Insider
Shoaib writes: "In his new book, 'Too Famous: The Rich, the Powerful, the Wishful, the Damned, the Notorious – Twenty Years of Columns, Essays and Reporting,' Michael Wolff reveals Epstein's thinking in his final few months."

Jeffrey Epstein believed he could make a deal with prosecutors by revealing secrets about former presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, according to a new book by Michael Wolff, reported by The Daily Mail.

The disgraced financier and convicted sex offender was arrested in July 2019 on sex trafficking charges, and died a month later in his jail cell by suicide.

In his new book, "Too Famous: The Rich, the Powerful, the Wishful, the Damned, the Notorious – Twenty Years of Columns, Essays and Reporting," Michael Wolff reveals Epstein's thinking in his final few months.

According to the book, Epstein believed that The Justice Department had arrested him, under the instruction of then-President Donald Trump, because they wanted information on Bill Clinton, who had flown on his private jet multiple times.

"The White House, through the Justice Department, was looking to press a longtime Republican obsession, and Trump ace-in-the-hole, and get Epstein to flip and reveal the sex secrets of Bill Clinton," Wolff wrote, according to The Daily Mail.

"Trump, if he was obsessed with Clinton, which he was, was also obsessed with what Epstein knew about Clinton.'"

Epstein also believed New York prosecutors who were investigating Trump's business affairs might have ordered his arrest to "pressure him to flip on Trump," Wolff reportedly suggests in the book.

Wolff said that there were "many likely holes in these theories," but Epstein believed that there could have been "a deal to be made," The Daily Mail said.

Wolff revealed that months before Epstein's death, he visited the billionaire at his infamous $75 million mansion in New York City, The Daily Mail said.

During Wolff's visit, Steve Bannon reportedly called Epstein on the phone and told him that he had feared him during Donald Trump's presidential campaign because he thought the financier knew secrets about Trump.

"You were the only person I was afraid of during the campaign," Bannon told Epstein.

"As well you should have been," Epstein reportedly replied.

Steve Bannon served as Donald Trump's campaign manager in 2016 and went on to become the president's chief strategist during the first seven months of his first term.

In his book, Wolff also claims that in 2019 Bannon gave Jeffrey Epstein media training for a possible 60 Minutes interview that did not end up happening.

Although Bannon confirmed he did spend over 15 hours recording practice interviews with Epstein, he disputed some of Wolff's characterizations of the conversations.

During his visit to Epstein's house, Wolff said the sex offender told him he thought Trump was a "moron" and believed that Attorney General Bill Barr was really in charge, according to The Daily Mail.

According to Wolff, Epstein said things had started to go wrong when he and Trump wanted to buy a mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, which he lost to Trump.

After that, Epstein said he believed Trump had "cultivated" the Palm Beach police to look into him, the paper reported.

Wolff wrote that former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak was also present at Epstein's house when he visited, The Daily Mail said.

Michael Wolff has written several books about Donald Trump's presidency, including the bestselling "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House."

Some have questioned Wolff's journalistic credibility, arguing that his novel-like writing often obfuscates where he got specific anecdotes and information.

Today’s Action: Watch the Global Climate Strike’s online training videos!

Recently, we here at OD Action have asked you to talk a lot about climate change. It can feel overwhelming, especially after the United Nation’s 3,000 page "code red" report that outlines, in some cases, irreversible damage done to ecosystems across the planet. People have been evacuated from their homes and communities due to extreme heat, wildfires, and flooding. It’s difficult not to get sucked into climate anxiety.

But it is absolutely critical to channel those feelings of dread into real action. The climate crisis is serious enough to scare anyone into feeling isolated and hopeless, but the reality is we are all in this together.

Make some time to check out Global Climate Strike’s online training videos that highlight impactful ways to take action and call for meaningful climate responses!

The reports are overwhelming, there’s no doubt about it. But we have an incredible opportunity in front of us to band together and create change, and that goes for every issue that might intimidate us. There is real power in numbers, and we here at OD Action want to make sure that everyone has access to the proper tools to demand a difference.

Global Climate Strike provides online training on skills like escalation, setting goals and implementing effective strategies, recruitment tactics, and digital storytelling — each designed to expand your climate-response toolkit.

It’s time to turn anxiety into action. Schedule time to watch Global Climate Strikes online training videos, and make a plan to pursue climate action in your area!

Only in America...

Today’s Action: Make plans to take action during August Recess

We’re at the beginning of August Recess, when Congress is home for the month. Our Representatives and Senators are holding town halls, taking meetings, and attending local events...which gives us plenty of opportunities to make our demands face-to-face! Make a commitment during this recess to get personal with at least one of your Congressional reps.

Ask for a one-on-one meeting. Contact their local office to make your meeting request, and follow-up after a week if you haven’t heard back! Arrive with your three biggest requests prepared, and request a clear action for each (ex: cosponsor a bill, make a public statement, join a caucus). Type up your requests in a letter to deliver to your rep at the end of the meeting, just in case they weren’t taking notes!

Attend a town hall. If your reps are offering a public forum, this is a great opportunity to make your demands with witnesses. Contact their office to ask if any town halls have been scheduled (and if not, why not?) and visit Town Hall Project to search for events near you (this site includes Democratic Presidential candidate events, in addition to Congressional!)

Organize a protest visit. Is your rep refusing to hold a town hall and declining private meetings? No problem. Ask their offices if they’ll be attending ANY public events during August recess, and join them there to ask your questions. Be sure to film it and broadcast it on social media! No events? Make the signal loud and clear: you cannot hide from your constituents. Gather your friends, family, and community to protest at their offices.

And the topics? There are so many...but here’s a few to get you started:

  • End the filibuster in the Senate so meaningful legislation can be discussed and passed

  • Champion strong, progressive climate action in the budget reconciliation bill and otherwise

  • Pass the For The People Act and work to protect their most marginalized constituents’ right to vote

  • Raise the national minimum wage to $15/hour – cosponsor and pass the Raise the Wage Act

  • Secure equal rights protections with the Equal Rights Amendment for women and the Equality Act for LGBTQ+

A Congressional recess isn’t time off — it’s your opportunity to remind our leaders who elected them, and what your communities’ needs are.

PS — Please don't forget to sign the petition holding Florida Governor Ron DeSantis liable for his criminally negligent response to the pandemic, and be sure to follow OD Action on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
