News just broke that Morgan LaMantia, one of the top competitors for this seat, received $1.2 million in campaign contributions from L&F Distributors - her own family's business.

We're appalled. South Texas deserves a Senator who's willing to put in the work to deliver for our communities - not someone who'd rather buy power with family money.

A bit about me and why I'm running to reshape Texas

 

It's been a while so I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself. My name is Alex Dominguez, and I am running for one of the most important seats in the Texas Senate.

You may know me as one of over 50 Texas representatives who left the state to halt the GOP’s disastrous voter suppression bill. I’m also the lawmaker who wrote HB1802, the groundbreaking Texas law that cleared the way for lifesaving psilocybin treatments for veterans with PTSD.

Now I'm running for the Texas Senate, and I need your help to shape our state’s future.

In my district — Senate District 27, the southernmost district in the state — families were struggling before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our ports, bridges, and tourist attractions hold unbelievable promise for South Texas. But we need to make vital investments in our infrastructure, education, jobs, health care, and affordable housing to make that promise a reality.

In my three years as a Texas state legislator, I’ve made these issues a priority because we all know Austin needs to do a better job of listening to our South Texas values.

As the 6th of 10 children in a family of migrant farmworkers, we didn’t have much growing up. But even when money was tight, we were rich in faith, family, and a strong belief in education. We worked hard and in America it paid off. These are the values I always embody.

I grew up to become a teacher, as did 7 of my siblings. Later, I went on to serve my community as a prosecutor and a Cameron County Commissioner. Now, I plan to continue my fight for voting rights, education, jobs, and infrastructure in the Texas state Senate.
