Josef Hofmann plays Chopin Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor Op. 35 (piano roll)

I just love the internet. “New” old stuff keeps popping up over the years.
Who knew, that Josef Hoffman (I’ve read everything published about him) invented and patented the pneumatic shock absorber for automobiles?
Josef Hoffman was considered by many to be (one of) the greatest pianists of all times. We can only hear his art on highly specialized “piano rolls” called “Duo Art” which capture the dynamics and attacks of the piano.

A duo art. Duo art’s captured the full dynamic range. The recording is of a ‘modern’ duo art (you can make modern computerized things read duo art rolls although this one is not computerized) playing the Hoffman roll.
You can’t get any closer to hearing Chopin play it himself.
