Undisclosed millionaires are trying to sabotage our movement

 

We’ve been sounding the alarm on the blowback to our movement for a few months now. But the attacks have just reached a new high. 

A new right-wing group — backed by anonymous millionaires and billionaires — launched a $500,000 effort this week to recall two of our elected DA’s in Virginia: Parisa Dehghani-Tafti and Steve Descano.  

And while this group claims they have the public’s safety at heart, their real goal is to rely on a flood of undisclosed donations to overturn these democratic elections in Virginia and use it as a “test case to launch nationwide.” 

At this moment, we are preparing to fight back against attacks like this around the country. It’s going to take A LOT to fend them all off at once.

That is why today, we are launching a new Real Justice DA Defense Fund. Can you rush a donation right now so our movement is ready to stop the influx of unprecedented, coordinated attacks?

If this were just a single isolated incident, we wouldn’t be nearly as worried.

But the harsh reality is that our resources, staff, and volunteers are already stretched thin as we advocate around the country to combat mass-incarceration and systemic racism.

Adding a single recall effort to push back against is tough work, but manageable.

Adding two, three, or half-a-dozen at once — which is what we’re facing right now — requires a lot more work.

Our movement fought hard to elect these visionary leaders over the last four years. We can’t afford to let pro-police PACs, cop unions, and right-wing millionaires undo all of that.

From now on, we can’t take any of our past victories for granted. All of our progress is at stake.
