| Director's NotePertinacity. In my work with Stop Predatory Gambling, I’ve met thousands of people revealing the truth behind gambling operators in your communities and your states. All of these men and women possess the same character trait: pertinacity. Pertinacity is a quality of sticking with something, no matter what. It is an uncommon mix of courage, conviction, and persistent determination. People who have pertinacity won't give up, and they stick with things doggedly. The pertinacity of our members is rooted in a selfless love for their families, communities, and their country. This pertinacity is making an impact. Our members are part of a growing national and international movement calling for an overhaul of our current gambling laws. It can’t happen fast enough. Our nation is experiencing a massive wave of commercialized gambling advertising never seen before. Millions of kids are being exposed to harmful gambling advertising and marketing by simply watching a sporting event or playing a video game. Our members at Stop Predatory Gambling will continue to be right in the middle of this fight. Our new initiative “The Campaign for Gambling-Free Kids” is leading the way to restrict gambling advertising and marketing so we can protect children, just like kids are protected from exposure to tobacco marketing. We won't stop until it happens. Pertinaciously Yours, Les Bernal, National Director |

Sally's Story: Shippensburg, PAOver the last several years, local leaders paved the way for Parx Casino to open a mini casino in Shippensburg PA, despite known community concerns. Parx Casino owners see our town as an untapped market with great financial opportunity but while casinos promise financial gain for the community, the reality is that they will be drawing more money out of the community than they will invest in Shippensburg. |

Campaign For Gambling-Free Kids |
| The Campaign for Gambling-Free Kids is a project of Stop Predatory Gambling that was created to protect kids from gambling advertising and marketing so they can thrive. It consists of citizens of all political stripes with members from all 50 states. Instead of protecting kids from commercialized gambling, state and local governments grab billions of dollars of the money lost by citizens to gambling, leading state lotteries and big gambling corporations to get themselves exempt from truth-in-advertising regulations under the Federal Trade Commission. |
