Sign on to show your support for abolishing the death penalty in California

Report finds California death penalty system ‘beyond repair,’ but changes are hard to come by
The San Francisco Chronicle, December 5

Add your name to stand with Chesa Boudin in the fight to abolish the death penalty in California

Hi, it's Chesa Boudin.

new report shows that capital punishment in California is imposed in a way that is arbitrary, irrational, unfair, and even unconstitutional. It costs the taxpayers $150 million per year and it disproportionately targets people of color.

Will you add your name to join me in calling for full abolition of the death penalty in California?

With the support of activists like you, we can finally send this barbaric practice to the ashheap of history.

Thanks,

Chesa Boudin

A new report from the Committee on Revision of the Penal Code calls for repeal of the death penalty in California, saying capital punishment is “imposed so arbitrarily -- and in such a discriminatory fashion -- that it cannot be called rational, fair, or constitutional.”

District Attorney Chesa Boudin is proud of the work we’ve done to end the death penalty in San Francisco -- having resentenced the last person out of our city who was on Death Row.

San Franciscans elected Chesa in 2019 to enact bold reforms like these to our criminal justice system -- and he’s made a lot of progress throughout his term to do just that.

But a handful of right-wing billionaires and GOP mega-donors have demonized our movement -- so we need to stand with Chesa and his fight to keep us on the right track. Today, we’re asking you to add your name in support of Chesa’s efforts to abolish the death penalty and keep our movement moving forward.

California voters narrowly rejected full abolition of the death penalty in 2016, but the support of activists like you and leaders like Chesa, we can make full abolition a reality. The death penalty in California costs the taxpayers $150 million per year. Blacks make up 35% of the condemned inmates (compared to only 6.5% of the state’s population), and jurors in capital cases are disproportionately white.

Thanks for making your voice heard,

Team Chesa Boudin

Chesa Boudin was elected District Attorney of San Francisco in 2019 to reform our criminal justice system. Now, right-wingers  want to reverse our progress and return our city to a time when innocent people were locked away and police acted with impunity.

Please chip in today to keep up the fight to reform San Francisco's criminal justice system.
