Our team is getting ready to take office on January 1, becoming only the 4th person elected to this office in 80 years and the first Black Manhattan DA. Here are some updates:
- Yesterday morning our transition committee comprised of legal experts, service providers, faith based and community leaders, law enforcement, and those directly impacted by the office came together and presented us detailed suggestions on how to deliver bold change starting on Day 1.
- We are building a leadership team that reflects the diversity of our city and have recruited a broad range of leaders to serve with me in the Manhattan DA office who have a strong track record of delivering innovative approaches that make us safer. I'm excited about what this team can do together.
- In the face of the recent spread of COVID, we have rescheduled our community Inauguration ceremony to Sunday, March 6th. Even though we had planned to host it outside to symbolize the opening of a new era of accessibility to all for this office, the first week of the New Year does not feel like the right time for this ceremony. Please save the date and we will be sending you more information as we get closer.
With the help of small contributions from people like you, we were able to get to this point, make history, and are ready to bring real change. But we also need help to support our transition work and inauguration plans. Please, if you are able, give to support this work.
Thank you for believing in me and for playing a part in bringing me to this day.
Best,
Alvin
