Last night Stephen Colbert compared me to a singing snowman

Friends,

When Late Show host Stephen Colbert compared me to a 'singing snowman' during his monologue last night, it gave me and my family a good laugh.

Colbert made that comparison before talking about a quote I made to the New York Times about this past Tuesday's elections:

The New York Times

"We're seeing the expectations of our base not being fulfilled and that's suppressing the vote by itself," said Rep. Raul Grijalva, a progressive Arizonan, who expressed frustration at moderates for holding up the party's agenda and said he would no longer adhere to "that code of silence" about Sens. Joe Manchin III of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona. "We're mad at them, but we can't say anything because it might make them weirder."

I haven't been shy about our need to pass the Build Back Better bill. Nor have I been shy about our need to enact vital climate protections, defend our right to vote, raise wages for working families, expand Medicare, and fix our immigration system.

However, the truth is that to bring about the transformative changes our country needs, we must not only keep our Congressional majorities but expand them with Democrats who are willing to go to work and deliver for the American people.

And, if you're wondering about Colbert's 'singing snowman' comparison, judge for yourself:

The singing snowman

Peace,

Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ)

MEET RAÚL GRIJALVA

Representing Arizona's 3rd Congressional District, Raúl first ran for Congress because he believed in the power of bringing people together to improve our communities and make our country a more just place. Throughout his career, Raúl has always fought for underrepresented voices.

Raúl currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources. He also serves on the House Committee on Education and Labor, spent 10 years as Chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, and is a long-standing, senior member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
