'Poor people are some of THE MOST hardworking people you'll ever encounter.
'They know how to budget money as well.
'So when i hear people say things like "lazy, making bad decisions, etc" to describe poor people, i know it's because they believe in the mythical bootstrap theory and convince themselves that poor people must being doing something wrong instead of looking at the systems in which create and maintain poverty.
'We treat poor people like a plague. Giving them less and less and expecting them to be grateful for crumbs and shaming them for wanting to enjoy the finer things in life bc "they're doing something wrong so they deserve to suffer." No. If you're shaming poor people, you're an asshole and let's be very clear many people who shame poor folks are one missed paycheck from poverty themselves.'
