120 counties in 120 days. That’s the ambitious goal we’ve set to reach voters across Kentucky from Paducah to Pikeville — before we enter our historic election year in 2022.
Hi y’all — I’m Murray Huber, the Distributed Organizing Manager for the Booker Campaign. When it comes to a grassroots campaign like ours, early investments and preparation are key. What we are able to invest from today through the rest of 2021 will have a huge impact on our success.
So, the team took a look at the numbers yesterday and made a grassroots organizing plan for the rest of the year.
Here are a few of the items we need to reach folks in all 120 counties:
- Virtual Phone Banking Events: It costs our campaign $0.05 to call one Kentucky voter. If we raised just $5,000, that would allow us to reach 100,000 Kentuckians. That’s already 10% of the population of folks living in Kentucky Appalachia.
- Supplies to send 50 voter registration teams out across Kentucky: $564 for clipboards + $150 for pens + $50 for print materials = $764
- Gas for our volunteers: It costs on average $47.59 to drive the 395 miles from the furthest point of Kentucky to the other. If we raise $4,759.03, our volunteers could cover the entire Commonwealth 100 times.
This is why I need to ask if you can support us today. Can we count on you to please chip in $12 (or any other amount you can afford) to our campaign? If we want to carry out our full outreach plan to all 120 counties by the end of the year, we need to raise $12,000 by the end of tomorrow.
Let me reiterate: We’re hoping to reach out to all 120 counties in Kentucky over the next 120 days. Not just counties in and around our Commonwealth’s larger cities like Louisville, but everywhere. From the hood to the holler.
Kentuckians have been suffering for decades at the hands of leaders like Rand Paul. While our state has been falling behind in life expectancy, health, and quality in education — our politicians have just been getting richer. I’ll be honest, that’s why so many Kentuckians don’t trust our politicians.
We believe that change is possible. But it starts by building relationships with Kentuckians who’ve been left behind — and doing it early.
Building trust takes time, and to do it right we need the resources to start NOW. According to our calculations, we’ll need to raise at least $12,000 over the next 24 hours to fully jump-start our efforts here.
It’s time to come together and fight for the future we deserve. Please chip in $12 or whatever you can afford for our campaign and help us reach our $12,000 goal to help us start our outreach.
Together,
Murray Huber
