Our rallying cry, as Jahana Hayes and I shared in Civil Eats:
Even before the pandemic, over 40 million Americans experienced food insecurity. While Congress has made significant and important progress to address hunger during the COVID pandemic through landmark investments in nutrition programs, we believe it's time to take the next step.
The emphasis is mine, because we cannot wait any longer to address food insecurity among our friends and neighbors.
I'd like you to join me over at Facebook, because I want to talk about this pressing issue and how we can take the next steps together.
Because, as we wrote in our editorial on this issue, the problem is getting worse: "The pandemic has made the need for federal programs beyond food assistance clearer than ever."
Has it ever. And that means we need to do something about it.
