Dear Friend,
The Cuba-“protest-story is not a single incident. Similar foreign interference happened in other countries. The Cuba-protest-incident is not going to be last attempt by the Empire. In countries in regions including the South Asia, the Empire is organizing its “democracy” campaigns. There’re its “democracy”-mongering organizations funding and training organizations, groups and individuals for carrying out the Empire’s design.

The Fires This Time
by Rebecca Gordon
It’s impossible to overstate the urgency of the moment. And yet, as a species, we’re acting like the children of indulgent parents who provide multiple “last chances” to behave. Now, nature has run out of patience and we’re running out of chances. So much must be done globally, especially to control the giant fossil-fuel companies. We can only hope that real action will emerge from November’s international climate conference. And here in the U.S., unless congressional Democrats succeed in ramming through major action to stop climate change before the 2022 midterms, we’ll have lost one more last, best chance for survival.
A World of Total Illusion & Fantasy: Noam Chomsky Interview
by Robert Hunziker
They started by referencing the Doomsday Clock (Science and Security Board Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists), which
has pegged humanity’s risk of annihilation at an all-time high of only 100 seconds to midnight. Chomsky feels we’re actuality closer to midnight than that. For example, his opinion is influenced by information in a leaked draft of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) upcoming report, “which is much more grim than earlier reports,” keeping in mind it is only a draft so far, and he believes the final report may temper the initial draft.

Major shootings took place in Chicago, Texas, Virginia and Ohio. Heavily policed cities like the New York and Washington DC were also the scenes of this ugly violence. Even policemen were targeted and some were injured.
America’s Afghan War Is Over, So What About Iraq – and Iran?
by Medea Benjamin and Nicolas J. S. Davies
The Iraqi people have the same right to decide their own future as the people of Afghanistan, and all the countries of the Middle East have the right and the responsibility to live in peace, without the threat of American bombs and missiles always hanging over their and their children’s heads. Let’s hope Biden has learned another history lesson: that the United States should stop invading and attacking other countries.

Why caste matters: On Dowry deaths in Kerala
by Karthika Jayakumar and Sivakami
To envision a positive future would be to abolish hierarchical structures of caste that dictate oppressive patriarchal norms in our society. It is also imperative that we decenter heteronormative conceptualisation of family as an institution and make space for non-normative unions to thrive and challenge this hegemony.
WHO’s doctor-patient ratio of 1:1000 – A far fetched dream for India!
by Dr
Sameeksha Dhillan
he World Health Organization (WHO) prescribes the ratio of 1:1000, that is, one doctor for a population of 1000 individuals. India comprises a population of 1,380 million people. According to the most recent data provided by the Health Ministry in 2019, we have an active population of 1.16 million doctors, of which only 80%, or 0.9 million are practicing. Therefore, this leaves us with the ratio of 0.68 doctors for every 1000 people, which is way below the WHO recommended criteria. According to the statistics, India is in a dire need of 4.3 lakh additional doctors to meet the WHO requirements.
Are we hungry for change for genuinely transforming food systems?
by Shobha Shukla
While the governments chant the mantra of “leaving no one behind”, it is ironic
that they are abetting corporate grabbing of land and resources, which is pushing farmers out of agriculture. Corporations are exercising more and more control over food and agriculture and influencing public policies.
